Interpreting The Eclipses

Most people know very little about the physical phenomenon of eclipses and less about their astrological implications. Little has been written about these implications that are acceptable to modern thinking. We know all too well the hysterical doomsday attitude of past writings. Therefore, this Jansky nook, because it delves soberly into the subject and gives some explanations of the phenomenon to us, comes as a welcome addition to eclipse literature…
Jansky explains very simply what happens in the heavens to produce what we perceive as eclipse phenomena. He uses simple graph measurements and drawings to show just what is involved. He carefully explains the subcycles within the grand eclipse cycles. In a sense, he helps us catch up with the ancients who apparently understood eclipses very well and deduced the length of the month and year from their cycles. Eclipses are a reliable means of dating history. The Babylonians, for example, recorded the names and reigns of their kings along with the eclipses of the era.
