Our next stop on the Fool’s path is stopping by the Empress in her garden. The Empress oversees the creative imagination. Writing this article reminded me of an eight-year group study I did eons ago on the Major Wisdom Keys. Synchronistic events would occur that were directly associated with the key we studied. Case in point, I began to prepare for this article last week and looked over my notes on the Empress Key. Yesterday I decided to visit Bird Dog Arts – an art gallery in the Outlets at Tejon. I had visited here once before. It is a…

The second stop on the Fool’s journey finds us at the Temple of The High Priestess – the Fool is 0, The Magician is I, and The High Priestess is Key 2. I often used The High Priestess Key as my significator (a card chosen to represent the inquirer in a tarot reading) in the past when I read for myself. I still read for myself; I just don’t use The High Priestess. The High Priestess sits between two contrasting pillars at the doorway of her temple, and she represents the subconscious. Her demeanor is calm as she sits on…
I am not sure of when exactly I first became familiar with the Tarot. But my fascination with the metaphysical world began very early around six or so. I particularly loved anything pertaining to Gypsies and/or Witches. I read the “Wizard of Oz” by Frank Baum when I was about eight. I wanted a pair of ruby slippers too – particularly ones formerly worn by a witch. In summers, I would visit my cousin Betsy and we would play King of the Gypsies. This caused some resentment by Betsy that I discovered we were grown as I was always the…
The second stop in the Fool’s journey is “The Magician.” The Fool has fallen off the cliff and his feet have safely hit the ground. The Fool becomes aware of his individuality self and now develops a human personality transforming him into the Magician. The Magician is a being who is living in the world. His personal magic arises from him overseeing the Earth’s major forces in his life. The Magician begins the study of contrasts in the Major Arcana. The magician, or wise man, is clearly in contrast to a fool. The Magician is number 1 of the Major…
I just love Tarot. And I believe in spreading that love. I will be writing about each of the 22 Major Arcana cards AKA The Wisdom Cards. The entire Tarot deck is composed of 78 cards. The 22 Major Arcana cards have a deeper meaning and greater importance than the other 56 cards of the Minor Arcana. Though the Minor Arcana are very important as they deal more with day-to-day life. The deck that I will be discussing is the Rider-Waite-Smith. This deck is full of symbolism and is one of the most preferred decks used by tarot readers worldwide.…
