Marcia Ohlman

I am originally from the Chicago area. I believe I still retain much of my midwestern sensibilities. Midwesterners are direct and honest.

My Intuitive abilities have always been there for me. I remember being in my bed when I was about three. The room was dark and still. Laying there, I just knew that I could make toys appear. I tried and tried but alas that didn’t happen. And I couldn’t understand why. I understood a certain principle that didn’t seem to work in this physical world. I always knew I was different, even then – out of place, out of time.

I felt II was an adult in a small body – I didn’t like that. I knew I could do things that this small body didn’t allow. Another thing that I could do One of things I could do was to know what others were thinking. I could “feel” lies. Truth feels good, lies feel bad.

As a child, I had dreams of past lives. These memories continue to present themselves to this day. I discovered through dreams, the reason for my fear of drowning, my love of fabric, my fear of someone knocking on the door particularly at night. I read about reincarnation – I had an adult library card when I was ten years old because my desire for learning was enormous. I read about Edgar Cayce. I went to church too. I liked church. But church didn’t answer all my questions. I kept my own counsel except for what I called and still call my “Guardian Angel.” I had a difficult childhood. One day, when I was crying in my closet feeling unloved and unwanted – I felt this loving presence surrounding me. From that time onward – I knew that I was never alone.

I consider myself a Spiritual Intuitive rather than a psychic. I know that God is in the trees that blow in the breeze, the birds, the bees, the leaves, the flowers, earth, the mountains, the seas, in a baby's smile, in all things. My most profound spiritual experiences have been outside of church...in the closet when I was a child, in a temple of trees, alone by the ocean, creating with my hands, with a group of friends just having fun. I access Spirit everyday through prayer and meditation. A church is four walls - Spirit is boundless and limitless - it is humans that put those limits on God. Spirituality doesn't need a church, Spirit doesn't need a church, Love/God/Spirit/Universal. Mind/Timeless Being/the Creator is everywhere and in everything.

Our next stop on the Fool’s path is stopping by the Empress in her garden. The Empress oversees the creative imagination. Writing this article reminded me of an eight-year group study I did eons ago on the Major Wisdom Keys. Synchronistic events would occur that were directly associated with the key we studied. Case in point, I began to prepare for this article last week and looked over my notes on the Empress Key. Yesterday I decided to visit Bird Dog Arts – an art gallery in the Outlets at Tejon. I had visited here once before. It is a…

The second stop on the Fool’s journey finds us at the Temple of The High Priestess – the Fool is 0, The Magician is I, and The High Priestess is Key 2. I often used The High Priestess Key as my significator (a card chosen to represent the inquirer in a tarot reading) in the past when I read for myself. I still read for myself; I just don’t use The High Priestess. The High Priestess sits between two contrasting pillars at the doorway of her temple, and she represents the subconscious. Her demeanor is calm as she sits on…

I am not sure of when exactly I first became familiar with the Tarot. But my fascination with the metaphysical world began very early around six or so. I particularly loved anything pertaining to Gypsies and/or Witches. I read the “Wizard of Oz” by Frank Baum when I was about eight. I wanted a pair of ruby slippers too – particularly ones formerly worn by a witch. In summers, I would visit my cousin Betsy and we would play King of the Gypsies.  This caused some resentment by Betsy that I discovered we were grown as I was always the…

The second stop in the Fool’s journey is “The Magician.” The Fool has fallen off the cliff and his feet have safely hit the ground. The Fool becomes aware of his individuality self and now develops a human personality transforming him into the Magician. The Magician is a being who is living in the world. His personal magic arises from him overseeing the Earth’s major forces in his life. The Magician begins the study of contrasts in the Major Arcana. The magician, or wise man, is clearly in contrast to a fool. The Magician is number 1 of the Major…

I just love Tarot.  And I believe in spreading that love. I will be writing about each of the 22 Major Arcana cards AKA The Wisdom Cards.  The entire Tarot deck is composed of 78 cards.  The 22 Major Arcana cards have a deeper meaning and greater importance than the other 56 cards of the Minor Arcana. Though the Minor Arcana are very important as they deal more with day-to-day life. The deck that I will be discussing is the Rider-Waite-Smith. This deck is full of symbolism and is one of the most preferred decks used by tarot readers worldwide.…
